A standing-room only crowd showed up to Evanston to celebrate homecoming on Friday, but all the 4,700-plus fans got to witness was the brilliance of Maine South quarterback Matt Alviti.

The Hawks' sophomore QB was 18 of 21 for 310 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as Maine South quickly halted any Evanston festivities with a 49-8 rout of the Wildkits.

After throwing an interception on his second pass attempt, Alviti completed 16 of his next 17 throws as he tore apart the Evanston (3-3) secondary. He threw touchdown strikes of 37, 39, 15 and 66 yards.

"When you know everything is going good, when you just get the ball to the receivers and let them make plays and the line blocks great they did tonight, it's just easy out there," Alviti said. "It just makes everything much better."

Scott Derrick led Maine South (4-2) with seven receptions for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Mottley had four catches for 116 yards and two scores.

Alviti also ran for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Evanston's lone score came on a 19-yard fumble recovery early in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks have outscored the opposition 195-29 during their current four-game win streak.
