Despite squandering a couple of early opportunities, once the Elmwood Park offense started to click it didn’t stop as the Tigers rolled past visiting Carver Military Academy 40-0 in Elmwood Park on Friday night.

Senior quarterback Tom Senn had four of his six completed passes go for touchdowns with three of them finding classmate Marcellus Hunter in the rout.

“He needed a game like this to feel confident,” said Elmwood Park head coach Luis Arroyo about Senn. “He’s done everything to be the leader of this team.”

Junior Carlos Sandoval scored on the Tigers’ first drive from 8 yards out as Elmwood Park (2-1) started at Carver’s 23 yard line. They would begin seven of their nine drives in Carver territory. Sandoval would go on to come up with two interceptions and partially blocked a punt as well.

Senn’s first touchdown pass was a 9-yard strike to senior Martin Warchulski that increased the Tiger lead to 13-0 with 3:48 to go in the first quarter. Senn then found Hunter twice within 34 seconds. He hit Hunter over the top from 23 yards out and again with a 65-yard bomb to give the Tigers a 27-0 halftime advantage. The duo connected for the final time of the night on the fourth play of the second half for a 15-yard touchdown pass play that increased the lead to 34-0. Junior Michael Tinajero rounded out the scoring with a 6-yard run midway through the third quarter.

Carver (1-2) would come as close as the Elmwood Park 1-yard line thanks to a couple of Tiger penalties and a perfectly executed fake punt, but a fumble ended that threat as the Tigers defense recorded seven takeaways. Junior Rocco Fanella posted seven tackles for the Tigers and a fumble recovery making it his third in the past two weeks and fifth of his high school career. Junior Geno Cadetto made eight tackles on the night for Elmwood Park.
