Nick Meyer threw touchdown passes of 47, 68, 47 and six yards and scored on a three-yard run to lead Elk Grove (7-2, 4-1 in the Mid-Suburban East) past host Rolling Meadows 35-21. The win snapped the Grenadiers' six-game losing streak to Rolling Meadows and ended the Mustangs' run of seven straight playoff appearances.

"Rolling Meadows is a pretty historic program," said Meyer, who completed 17 of 25 passes for 279 yards. ‘‘Them and Prospect have dominated the East for awhile.''

‘‘It's kinda nice to knock a team out that has been beating up on us in the past, but at the same time however you would like to see as many teams from the conference in the playoffs as possible.''

Rolling Meadows (4-5, 2-3) got touchdown passes of 73, seven and 36 yards by quarterback Kevin Cwynar (12 of 24, 237 yards). His 36-yard toss to Ryan Gundersen pulled the Mustangs to within 28-21 with 9:11 remaining in the game after they trailed 28-7 early in the third quarter.

But Elk Grove answered with a 11-play, 52-yard drive capped by Meyer's 6-yard touchdown pass to Joey Bishoff.
