Outlook: The Tomcats have an inexperienced team but one that should compete for one of the top three spots in the conference, Coach Jeffries said.

Geneva
Coach: Doug Ross

2008 records: First year fielding a full team

Top newcomers: Hanna Borjesson, senior; Nicole Cisco, senior; Claire Chlasta, sophomore; Cassie Johnson, senior; Megan Finley, senior; Maddie Suchor, senior; Sarah Zacchea, senior; Kristen Cagney, senior; Nora Burkhardt, freshman; Kelli Knott, senior

Outlook: The team is made up of many of last year's conference winning and state-level tennis players. Coach Ross said he is looking forward to teaching the girls a great new competitive sport.

Oswego East
Coach: Marko Jurkovic

2008 records: 10-4 overall, 4-2 Southwest Prairie Conference

Top returning players: Rachelle Sulit, senior; Jill Jaskolski, senior; Katie Horn, junior

Top newcomers: Andrea Dyba, junior; Bryanne Kalous, junior; Katie McDonald, junior

Outlook: The Wolves have only two returning seniors. They are a very young team, but Coach Jurkovic hopes to have it rolling by the conference tournament.

Waubonsie Valley
Coach: Carla Griffin

2008 records: 6-12 overall, 5-10 Upstate Eight Conference

Top returning players: Christine Liu, sophomore; Faye Yao, senior; Jessica Hsu, senior

Outlook: Coach Griffin knows the Warriors have their work cut out for them in a loaded Upstate Eight Conference. She said their goal is to finish fourth or better in the league, and the players have set numerous personal goals.

West Aurora
Coach: Ray Lopez

2008 records: Fifth in the DuPage Valley Conference, 17th at the state meet

Top returning players: Karina Diaz, senior; Alexis Scott, senior; Taylor Scott, senior; Alicia Hizel, junior; Emily Kuntzi, junior

Top newcomers: Lauren Affrunti, senior; Jenny Lupa, junior; Carrie Towle, junior; Jazmin Ramirez, junior; Jessica Santos, sophomore; Nicole Maenza, sophomore; Jaclyn Williams, sophomore

Outlook: The Blackhawks return two state-qualifing doubles teams and five of last year's top 10 players overall. West will be a young team this year, but Coach Lopez expects it to be a better by the end of the year. The Blackhawks' goal is to finish in the top three of the DuPage Valley Conference and qualify players for state, with a goal of finishing in the top 10 at that meet.
