Morgan Park's Dominique Bell bolted for 47 yards on his first carry Saturday against Dunbar. It was the start of something huge.
Bell scored four first-half touchdowns to power the No. 24 Mustangs in their 47-0 romp over the Mightymen Saturday afternoon at Gately Stadium.
“The last couple of weeks, my [offensive] line has really come together and opened up huge holes,” Bell says. “I have good vision and quick feet, so I don’t need a lot of space.”
The Mustang senior running finished with 181 yards on 19 carries. He had just one second half carry.
Bell’s 47-yard run on the Mustangs’ opening possession set up his first score, a one-yard dive. He added scores of 20, four and five yards. Bell rushed for 184 yards on 18 carries in the first half, propelling the Mustangs to a 26-0 lead at the break.
The Mustangs (3-2, 2-0 Illini Prairie State) turned the game into a rout at the start of the third quarter. On their second play from scrimmage, reserve quarterback LaCory Valentine scored on an electrifying 76-yard touchdown run. Valentine added a two-yard scoring run, set up by his 27-yard pass to Julius Larry.
Morgan Park’s defense limited Dunbar (2-3, 0-2) to just 128 yards of offense. Abdullah Asad returned an interception 70 yards for the Mustangs’ final score.
