It wasn’t pretty, but Dunbar coach Glen Johnson said he’d take it any time as the Mighty Men pulled out a 20-14 double overtime victory over visiting Foreman Friday at Gately Stadium.
Running back Marcus Hurt saved the day for Dunbar as he scored on a 15-yard run in the second overtime to seal the victory.
Hurt finished with 196 yards on 28 carries and also scored two touchdowns.
He scored the game’s first touchdown on a 23-yard run.
“We are a very young team but we have some talented players,” said Johnson. “We’ll have to grow up quick. We almost let it slip away but we had enough to dig deep to get the victory.”
Kasey Samuels caught a 23-yard pass from Daryl Eskridge to finish out the scoring.
Foreman coach Jason Nikson said the only thing missing was the victory.
“I’ve never been any prouder of a team," said Nikson. "Every player left it on the field.”
Clint Young scored on a two-yard run for the Hornets and Oscar Muldenado also scored on a two-yard run.
