Downers South's Chandler Whitmer, one of the Chicago area's most accurate prep quarterbacks, has committed to play at Illinois, according to recruiting analyst Tim O'Halloran's Web site.
Whitmer, a 6-foor-1, 190-pound junior, has thrown just six interceptions in two seasons the Mustangs.
Last fall, Whitmer completed 102 of 190 passes for 1,430 yards and 13 touchdowns for a team that finished 7-3.
According to EdgyTim.com, Whitmer chose the Illini over Arizona, Stanford and Iowa State.
