Rada, Mustangs run past Panthers

Downers North used a trio of runners to control the clock, rack up yardage and spoil homecoming for host Proviso West in a 20-7 victory.

Anthony Rada led the way for the Trojans (2-5, 1-3), rushing for 142 yards on 20 carries and scoring the first two Downers North touchdowns to propel the Trojans to a 14-0 halftime advantage.

Brandon Salter sealed the victory for the Trojans with a 64-yard touchdown run with 3:27 left in the fourth quarter.

Salter ended the game with 10 carries for 83 yards.

Also receiving double-digit carries for Downers Grove North was Robert Sheppard, who ended the game with 66 rushing yards.

Quarterback Quincy Cole scored the only touchdown for Proviso West (3-4, 1-3) on a five-yard touchdown run.

He ended the game with 92 yards rushing and 130 yards passing.

Proviso West had opportunities to score in the second half, twice driving to inside the Trojan 5-yard line, only to be denied points on both occasions.
