After struggling in its first seven games of the season, the Oak Park boys soccer team decided it needed more team unity.
So the Huskies shaved their heads - including coach Paul Wright.
Since that night when the clippers came out, Oak Park has been on a roll. Wright's crew ran its winning streak to six on Tuesday with a 1-0 West Suburban Silver victory over Downers North in Oak Park.
"After we lost to St. Patrick for the first time in a long, long time, we decided we needed to get on the same page," Wright said. "Everyone was over at (forward) Drew Golz' house and someone saw a pair of clippers."
Golz (11 goals), who earned a spot on the Pepsi Showdown All-Tournament team on Sunday, recorded the game's lone goal on a penalty kick 10 minutes into the second half. Thanks to the solid defensive play of Mike Studer, Mark Bernthal registered the shutout in goal for the Huskies (8-4-1, 3-0), which will host Morton Wednesday.
