Deerfield senior Erin Purdy will sign a letter of intent on Wednesday to join the women’s diving/swim team at the University of North Carolina.

Purdy finished third in last fall’s state meet and the two divers who beat her have both graduated, making her one of the favorites to win the state title in two weeks.

Last weekend, Purdy won the diving competition at the Central Suburban League North Division meet. It was the third year in a row show won that event.

Purdy’s sophomore year at Deerfield, she finished fifth at the state meet. That year’s winner was Stevenson’s Kerrin Seymour, who is now a sophomore and diving at Stanford University.
