She figures to be a major player on the high school scene next spring.
Misia Krasowski -- who starred at Deerfield High School as a sophomore before turning to club tennis last fall --announced her return to prominence by finishing second in the CDTA Qualifier in Girls 18 singles last week.
The No. 2 seed ran into classmate Julia Fellerhoff in the quarterfinal round.
"I've never played Julia in a tournament before," said Krasowski, who edged her fellow Warrior 6-0, 6-4.
In the semifinals, Krasowski turned back a strong challenge from No. 4 seed Courtney Dolehide of Hinsdale.
"We both knew it was a big match," said Krasowski, a Bannockburn resident. "I just stayed consistent in the third set; that was the biggest difference."
Krasowski earned her spot in the finals by outlasting Dolehide 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. But her championship bid was squashed 6-1, 6-4 by top seed Hanna Mar of Burr Ridge.
"Hanna is a really good player," Krasowski said. "Hopefully, I can beat her some time in the future."
When the fall season rolls around, look for Krasowski and Rachael White to put on Deerfield uniforms. White claimed an IHSA state title in 2006, but also opted to play club tennis in '07.
Two other Deerfield residents advanced to the Midwest Closed. Fellerhoff qualified by reaching the quarterfinals, while Annie Sullivan also reached the quarters before losing 6-3, 6-2 to Mar.
