CL South's fourth too much for Wolves

Crystal Lake South's Drew Ormseth had the answers Friday night in Crystal Lake. The Gators' quarterback threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in his team's 24-20 victory over Prairie Ridge.
Ormseth lofted an 80-yard touchdown pass to Brad Walovitch early in the fourth quarter to put the No. 12 Gators up for good. The play was sort of redemption for Ormseth, who had just fumbled on his team's one-yard line.
"I told everyone we would score on the next play," said Ormseth, who was 8 of 11 for 213 yards.
"I couldn't let my team down. It was a beautiful catch."
Prairie Ridge (3-1) struck first in the game. The Wolves mounted a seven-play, 42-yard drive capped by a five-yard run by Connor Greenwald to make it 7-0 with 5:18 left in the first half.
Crystal Lake South (4-0) had struggled offensively to that point. But the Gators regrouped to put together an eight-play, 50-yard scoring drive. Ormseth connected with Walovitch on a 13-yard scoring strike to tie the game at 7-7 with 1:19 left in the first half.
Walovitch booted a 24-yard field goal midway through the third quarter to put the Gators up 10-7.
Prairie Ridge regained the lead after Ormseth's fumble on one-yard run by Greenwald to make it 14-10.
After his touchdown pass, Ormseth put the game away with a one-yard run with 37 seconds to play. Prairie Ridge closed out the scoring with an eight-yard pass from Stephen Covalt to Sean Valentine.
"The kids stepped up when we needed them to," Crystal Lake South coach Chuck Ahsmann said. "And Drew Ormseth was right on the money with his passes."
