Western Michigan University-bound quarterback Anthony Maddie threw five touchdowns and returned a punt for another in Aurora Christian’s 54-7 victory over Chicago Christian Friday night.

The Eagles improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Suburban Christian Conference Gold Division.

Maddie was 14-for-23 passing for 326 yards and was intercepted twice.

“The way we played offensively, I was very happy with the way (the kids) performed,” Aurora Christian coach Don Beebe said.

Playing without its top two receivers due to injury, the Eagles turned to 6-foot, 3-inch junior Cory Windle and the lanky receiver hauled in six catches for 189 yards, including scoring hookups of 53 and 85 yards from Maddie.

Aurora Christian took a 20-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring three times on just 11 total plays. Chicago Christian (0-3, 0-1) finally got on the board late in the first half on a 26-yard run by Wally Findysz (60 yards) to make it 27-7.

The Eagles then blew it open for good at the start of the third, scoring three more times on just one offensive play. Maddie opened the half with the punt return, then hit Windle for the 85-yard TD, and then Ryan Suttle returned an interception 48 yards for an Eagles score. Aurora Christian running back Mitch Holtz capped the scoring with a 75-yard run in the fourth quarter.
