Guided by quarterback Anthony Maddie, the Aurora Christian football team got seven touchdowns from six different players in its 48-0 win over Chicago Academy Friday night in Aurora.

Maddie finished 11-for-17 with four touchdown passes and a total of 228 yards. He played less than two full quarters.

“I think Anthony, right now, is so zoned in to what we want on offense,” Aurora Christian coach Don Beebe said. “He’s like a coach on the field. He is so poised and focused on his approach to the game, he just went out and played well. He’s playing at a really high level. It’s fun as a coach to watch a kid like that.”

Cody Windle (22-yard pass from Maddie), Ryan Suttle (17-yard run) and Josh Jungels (3-yard reception) all scored in the first quarter.

Mitch Holtz (31-yard reception), Brandon Mayes (75-yard run) and Windle again (25-yard reception) added to Aurora Christian’s offense in the second quarter. By the half, the Eagles led 41-0.

“We have a lot of our top receivers injured now — Chad (Beebe), Grayson (Roberts) and Brandon (Walgren) — that’s tough, but we have other people who (can score),” Maddie said. “It’s nice to have those guys.”

“Coming in (to the season), offensively, we knew we were going to be pretty solid,” Beebe said. “We just have to get everyone healthy.”

Chris Klimpke added Aurora Christian’s seventh touchdown. He scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth.

“The shutout gives the guys confidence,” Maddie said. “It’ll be nice for the next couple of games. That’s the type of defense we have — there are so many hard-nosed guys. They’re tough. It makes it a lot easier on me as a quarterback.”
