Ag. Science (1-0) vs. Carver (0-1)

3:30 p.m. at Gately Stadium, 103rd and Cottage Grove

Storyline: The first ever meeting between the two schools is being called the "Kelly Green Game," because both teams share the same school colors. Ag. Science is coming off an impressive 26-0 shutout of Roosevelt last week. After posting a school record six victories last year, coach Ken Bringe is eager to take the young program to the next level. The team is very young, with only ten upperclassmen out of the 43 players on the roster. Tough, physical linebacker Mike McNeil (6-1, 195) is the team's leader.

Ag. Science is looking to make their reputation against an Illini Heartland program. Veteran coach Fred Ward leads a talented though very young and inexperienced Carver team. The Challengers dropped their first game, 22-14 to a strong Gage Park squad last week. The Carver coaches are looking for more consistency and improved fundamentals. Senior middle linebacker Marvin Wilson (5-11, 225) must help shut down Ag. Science's running attack.

Spotlight player: Carver's senior defensive lineman Jerel Harris (6-3, 215) plays both the tackle and end positions, and he has the ability to dominate the game with his quickness, size and athletic ability.

Carver assistant head coach John Williams on Ag. Science: "This should be a great match up and a game our kids are looking forward to. We've never played before, and we don't know a lot about them. Obviously they must have played well against Roosevelt. I'm not sure how good Roosevelt is, but any time you score 26 points and shut a team out, that's not a team you can take lightly."
