Dazzo leads Prospect past Buffalo Grove

Steve Dazzo put up some monster numbers on Friday night.
The Prospect High School quarterback rushed for 200 yards on 24 carries with three touchdowns to spark the Knights to a 28-0 victory over visiting Buffalo Grove. Dazzo completed 11 of 21 passes for 201 yards with one TD.
The stunning numbers - 401 combined yards - did not catch his coach by surprise.
"Dazzo has a great game every game," said Knights coach Brent Pearlman, whose club finished the regular season 8-1 overall and claimed the MSL East title with a 5-0 record.
Buffalo Grove (4-5, 2-3) came within an eyelash of tying the game 7-7 in the second quarter. Quarterback Mike Garrity marched the Bison 44 yards to the Prospect 3-yard line. He then flipped an apparent touchdown pass to Brian Akialis - but the score was nullified by a holding penalty.
The drive eventually stalled at the 5. Less than two minutes later, the Knights capped a 95-yard drive when Dazzo scrambled into the end zone from 10 yards out to bump the lead to 14-0.
Garrity had a solid game in defeat. After starting out 3-for-13, he finished the game 17-38 for 165 yards.
