Bloom big man chooses Texas A&M Corpus Christi

Bloom center Jawan Nelson, one of the top big men in the state, made an oral commitment to Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Thursday.

Nelson, a 6-9 senior, narrowed his choices down to Kansas State, UAB, and South Florida before his decision.

"I felt real comfortable with coach Clark," Nelson said. "I had a great visit and I knew quite a few of the guys on the team. My coach (Jasper Williams) and my mother (Mika Malone) were very supportive of my choice."

"I had a very good vibe from Coach Clark from the start," Malone said. "Jawan, Coach Williams, and I were all very impressed."

Clark has had major success recruiting the area. Demond Watt (TF North), Antonio Topps (Leo) and Tim Green (Simeon) all play for the Islanders.
