MUNDELEIN -- One week after Carmel's offense failed against Marist, its attack scored on virtually every possession Friday to beat Benet 49-13.
Carmel (3-1 overall, 1-1 East Suburban Catholic Conference) scored on all four of its first-half possessions against Benet (1-3, 1-1 ESCC). In addition to quarterback Andrew Nerup's two touchdowns, running back Mike Taylor scored on runs of 1, 6 and 69 yards. For the game, Carmel had the ball seven times and scored every time. That did not include a kneel-down at the end of the game.
Taylor rushed 21 times for 182 yards and three scores. Nerup ran 16 times for 124 yards and two scores. Sean Madison added 72 yards on seven carries.
