He shoots and scores for Barrington's soccer team.

The senior forward tallied a combined five goals in three matches last weekend at the Great Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, helping the Broncos post a 2-1 record.

Ozbay, who leads the team in scoring (13 goals) and assists (5, tied with classmate Frank Ingraffia), netted a pair of goals in each of Barrington's two victories -- a 2-0 win over Hinsdale Central Saturday morning, and a 3-1 defeat of Lexington (Ky.) Catholic Saturday afternoon.

He and sophomore midfielder Tommy Arns notched a goal apiece in a 4-2 loss to Chaminade College (Mo.) Prep on Friday. BHS senior midfielder/forward Ryan Mangone struck for a goal against Lexington Catholic.

Broncos senior midfielder/forward Noel Irion provided a club-high two assists at the tournament; Ingraffia, Tim Rudnicki, Taylor Williams, Ryan Foley, Kyle Breckan and Charlie Giovenco had the others.

Barrington's winning goalkeepers were Breckan (vs. Lexington Catholic) and senior Tom Unak (vs. Hinsdale Central).

Coach Scott Steib's Broncos (10-3, 4-1) host Fremd at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

THIS AND THAT: Mangone is second among Broncos in scoring with eight goals. ... Unak has recorded six shutouts and allowed seven goals in 9 1/4 matches (.757 GAA) ... Breckan's GAA in 3 3/4 matches is .800.

REMEMBER? Does that 2-0 Barrington victory over Hinsdale Central at the Great Midwest Classic look familiar? It was the identical result, involving the same schools, of a Class AA state semifinal last fall; Barrington later captured its first state championship in program history, edging Neuqua Valley 2-1 in three overtimes on Oct. 27.
