Eisenhower runs past Argo

Eisenhower had its fans chirping Friday night as the Cardinals cruised to a 43-6 rout over Argo in a South Suburban Red game in Blue Island.

Eisenhower tailback Leo Okeke ran circles around the Argonauts defense, totaling 275 yards on 20 carries, including four touchdown runs.

“I’m speechless,” Okeke said. “I really have to give credit to the O-line. Without them I really wasn’t going to go nowhere.”

Okeke scurried for an 11-yard score on the Cardinals’ first drive of the game, rumbling untouched into the end zone. He followed that with a 64-yard dash on the first play from scrimmage on Eisenhower’s ensuing possession. He tacked on scores of 15 and 11 yards in the second half.

“Okeke did an amazing job,” Eisenhower coach Travis Moore said. “I really have to put a constant memo as far as our offensive line. They provided the holes, and he did a good job of exploiting those holes.”

The Cardinals (4-1, 3-0) limited Argo to 112 total yards of offense. The lone bright spot for the Argonauts (2-3, 1-2) came on a 41-yard touchdown run from Demario Turner. Turner was Argo’s leading rusher with 46 yards on four carries, and also had an interception on defense.
