Lakes won its fourth straight Class 2A regional soccer title, beating pesky Johnsburg 4-2 on Friday in the championship game at Antioch.

The Eagles will host the sectional and play either Burlington Central or Hampshire in Tuesday’s semis.

Jonathan Stanley scored twice, and Bojan Zgonjanin and Trevor Ray also tallied as the Eagles (12-9-1) broke a 2-2 tie in the final 19 minutes.

Stanley scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season, but it was a 2-2 contest until Zgonjanin tallied his first of the year on a pass from Ray.

Ray then scored in the final minute from Stanley to clinch it.

“Johnsburg (16-7) just doesn’t quit,” said Lakes coach Kevin Kullby. “It was a great win.”

Ray, a junior, delivered in crunch time for the Eagles with the key pass on the game-winner.

“Trevor did not have a good first half, but he got a ball he could do something with,” said Kullby. “It laid up for him perfectly and he was able to race by the defense and make a beautiful cross to Bojan.

“That was his first goal of the year. What a great time for it!”

Lakes goalie Roberto Tre Re had eight saves.
