Antioch High School announced last week that Marni Polakow will take over as the boys soccer coach next season. She replaces Jorge Anduray, who resigned due to his eventual relocation to the East Coast.
Polakow is a physical education teacher at Antioch and spent last season as a boys soccer assistant at Grayslake North.
She is a Stevenson High School graduate who played soccer at Nevada-Las Vegas, where she was a two-time captain and was twice selected to the Mountain West Conference and District All-Academic teams. After college, she created a soccer club in Las Vegas before returning to the Midwest to serve as an assistant boys and girls soccer coach at Stevenson.
"We feel fortunate to be able to hire a coach with Marni's excitement and passion for the sport of soccer," Antioch athletic director Steve Schoenfelder said. "We believe (she) is the ideal candidate to continue the rebuilding process Mr. Anduray has put in place."
