1. Cameron White

He was the magic in Antioch High School's magical football season. The senior running back rushed for 1,796 yards and scored 35 touchdowns for the 12-1 Sequoits, who advanced to the IHSA Class 6A state semifinals. The all-stater was clearly the most exciting football football player in Lake County. And for all that, this three-sport sensation -- he also plays hoops and runs track -- has been named the 2008 Pioneer Press Lake Shore Prep Athlete of the Year.

2. Sarah Boothe

During the four-year run as Warren's best girls basketball player, Boothe's club went 55-1 in NSC play and 113-16 overall. In her final campaign last winter, Boothe averaged a double double (20.5 points, 11.2 rebounds). Before she headed for Stanford, Boothe scored 2,038 points and grabbed 1,079 rebounds in her high school career.

3. Denis Bogatov

This Warren tennis star had only beaten Glenbrook North's Eric Spector twice in 12 previous meetings. But the Blue Devil junior completed his run to the IHSA state singles title by edging Spector 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 to put a final stamp on his 34-2 season.

4. Fellerhoff/Krasowski

The Deerfield doubles team of junior Julia Fellerhoff and senior Misia Krasowski completed a 28-0 season by winning the IHSA state title 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 over Lake Forest's Nicole Lipp/Kathleen Saltarelli. Krasowski now will head to Brown University.

5. Woldenberg/Barnett

After coming together in midseason, this Highland Park doubles team of Ben Woldenberg and Sam Barnett rolled past all 21 opponents. In the IHSA state final, the Giant pair beat Stevenson's Ross Putterman/David Packowitz 6-1, 6-1.

6. Joey DeBernardis

Now a freshman at Penn State, the Lake Zurich power hitter put up huge numbers last spring: .542 average with 13 homers, 55 RBIs and a slugging percentage of 1.125. He also was a star on the mound, firing a no-hitter against Vernon Hills in the NSC title game.

7. Jamie Lavin

She came within an eyelash of winning the state golf tournament in October. The Penn State recruit capped off a great postseason run by shooting 73-73, which tied her for first place (she eventually lost the playoff) in the showcase meet.

8. Brandon Paul

Do we dare say the sky is the limit for this Warren basketball star? The all-stater finished his junior season averaging 20.2 points and 6.6 rebounds. This smooth 6-foot-3 guard, who will play in the Big Ten next year at Illinois, already is off a terrific start this winter. 9. Matt Vogrich

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged a team-high 17.2 points and 7.7 rebounds as a junior at Lake Forest last season. His outside shooting wowed coaches on the AAU circuit last summer, and Vogrich eventually signed with Michigan. He chose the Ann Arbor school over Notre Dame and Stanford.

10. Lipp/Saltarelli

This Lake Forest doubles team of Nicole Lipp and Kathleen Saltarelli won 23 of 25 matches last fall, with both losses coming to state champions Julia Fellerhoff and Misia Krasowski of Deerfield. Lipp will play soccer at Duke; Saltarelli will play tennis at Wisconsin.

11. Kim Gotlund

The Warren gymnast finished second in the state in all-around as a sophomore in 2008 and helped her team earn a third-place trophy. Gotlund has chosen to focus on club gymnastics this season.

12. Duncan Partridge

He has speed to burn. The Stevenson senior grabbed second in state in the 50 free (school-record 20.59) and third in state in 100 free (46.16). He's swimming at the University of Iowa.

13. Katie Buczynski

She's the strikeout queen. The Lake Zurich softball star, now a freshman at Heartland College, fanned 283 batters while compiling 17 shutouts. She finished 22-4 with an ERA of 0.58 while earning all-state honors.

14. Sara Petermann

As a senior, the Carmel soccer player scored 37 goals and had 22 assists for a Corsairs team which finished 22-2 and reached the Elite Eight for the first time. Petermann, who had a hat trick in Carmel's 3-1 supersectional win over Hersey, was named All-Midwest by the National Soccer Coaches Association.

15. Lydia Bauer

She's a three-sport star: volleyball, basketball and softball. The Lake Zurich senior had 475 assists, 121 kills and 63 aces on the volleyball court, while her basketball prowess will send her to UW-Green Bay next year.

16. Putterman/Packowitz

Stevenson freshmen Ross Putterman and David Packowitz shocked the tennis world by finishing second in state last spring. They're the first freshmen doubles team to ever reach the state final in Illinois.

17. Chris Wroblewski

He averaged 17.9 points and hit 78 three-pointers for the 2007-08 Highland Park team which went 23-6 and won a regional crown. Wroblewski, who is currently playing significant minutes as a feshman at Cornell, was the CSL North's Player of the Year and an IBCA All-State selection in 2008.

18. Eric Rohe

The Mundelein righty was the area's most dominant pitcher in the spring of 2008. He went 13-1 with an 0.95 ERA for the 28-6 Mustangs. Rohe, who struck out 115 batters in 88 innings, was named first-team all-state by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association and Prep Baseball Report.

19. Jasmine Minor

This Carmel Catholic sophomore made a big statement in her first season of high school tennis. She took third in the IHSA state meet and played a strong match against eventual state champion Elizabeth Epstein of Francis Parker.

20. Stew Kerr

He was simply a goal-scoring machine. The Lake Forest High School lacrosse star scored 77 goals to earn All-America honors.

21. Annie Evans

In helping Lake Forest win the IHSFHA state title, this field hockey midfielder was named Illinois Player of the Year. Evans had 9 goals and 6 assists, and generally controlled the action at will.

22. Abbie Horan

Lakes High School's best golfer did not disappoint. The junior fired a 73-75 to take fourth place at the IHSA state tournament.

23. Megan Bozek

The Stevenson senior, who starred for Glenbrook South's high school team last year, will continue her hockey career next year at the University of Minnesota. The defenseman is a two-year member of the U.S. Under-18 team and is currently playing for the U-19 Chicago Mission.

24. Jake Sinkovec

This hard-hitting safety played a key role in Carmel Catholic's run to the IHSA Class 7A quarterfinals. Sinkovec made 92 tackles (61 solo), intercepted 4 passes and collected 5 tackles-for-loss.

25. OIivia Allen

The basketball star will play at Bradley next year. In track, she finished 8th in state in the 200 dash.
