Andrew's Zimmer resigns after 5 years

Andrew High School will be searching for a new football coach.
Jim Zimmer, who guided the program to a 26-22 mark in five years, has
resigned.
His departure comes after a disappointing season that saw the T-Bolts finish 4-5. Under Zimmer, Andrew was able to qualify for the Class 8A playoffs twice, most recently in 2009. The T-Bolts failed to advance beyond the second round on either occasion.
"He wants to spend time with his family," Andrew athletic director Rich
Piatchek said. "It's totally a family situation."
Piatchek was uncertain how long the process of naming a new coach would
take.
"We'll go through the normal procedures," he said. "I'm sure we'll have
applicants in-house and in the district. It's just too early to tell right
now."
Zimmer came over from Stagg, where he was an assistant coach under then-head coach Tim McAlpin.
