Jordan Ellingwood rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns to lead Plainfield Central to a 41-15 season-opening win over Amundsen on Friday night in Plainfield.

Ellingwood capped a game-opening 55-yard drive with a 2-yard TD run to put the Wildcats ahead to stay. He added another touchdown on a 26-yard run in the second quarter and finished his night with a 9-yard scoring scamper in the third period.

The most exciting play of the night came from the Wildcats’ defense during Amundsen’s first possession.

On the Vikings’ second play from scrimmage, Plainfield Central linebacker Nana Aikins broke through the line on a blitz and buried Amundsen quarterback Patrick McCoy, jarring the ball loose. Aikins scrambled to his feet, picked up the bouncing ball and rambled 38 yards for the Wildcats’ second touchdown of the game.

Plainfield Central also got touchdowns from quarterback Tim Blake on a 1-yard sneak before halftime and running back Tyler Erdman on a 4-yard run in the third period to push the score to 41-0 and start the running clock for the remainder of the game.

Amundsen got on the board with a pair of late touchdown passes from McCoy, including a 70-yarder to Miran Cerimagic.
