Girls soccer: Jaclyn Nelson suddenly found herself facing an open net at the end of an unusual play, and she didn't miss. Her goal gave the Royals a 3-2 win, the Rosary Regional title and sent her team to face Joliet Catholic in the Lemont Sectional semifinals Tuesday.

Perhaps it's ideal, not ironic, that the best facet of the Rosary girls' soccer team is its crosses. The Royals used sharp passing to jump out to a 5-0 halftime lead over Rich South on the way to winning their IHSA, Class AA regional matchup Tuesday afternoon in a 7-0 rout.
