Oswego's pressure overwhelms Rosary

The pressure was on from the opening tip, and the Rosary Royals could not adapt to or break it Thursday night against Oswego, falling 57-34 to the Panthers in the Class 3A Yorkville Regional championship. In the third straight regional final meeting between the teams, the Panthers dominated from the outset with a suffocating fullcourt press and quick double-teaming of Jordan Rettig in the post to jump out to a 16-6 first quarter lead.

Harmon, Oswego blow by Rosary

Oswego's Paige Harmon scored seven of her 15 points in the first quarter as the top-seeded Panthers topped Rosary 57-34 Thursday to capture the Class 3A Yorkville Regional. The center also grabbed nine rebounds and had two steals in the win.

The Rosary basketball team began its postseason run against its down-the-street rival in Aurora Central Catholic, which the Royals had beaten twice in conference play this season. Rosary getting back on track

After a humbling loss to Montini over the weekend, Rosary coach Dave Beebe was anxious to see how his team would respond with a quick turnaround Tuesday at Aurora Christian. Early on, the Royals appeared to have a hangover from the Montini loss, as the Eagles were within four points early in the second quarter. But after a timeout in which Beebe let his thoughts be known in no uncertain terms, Rosary was back on track. The Royals cruised to a 66-37 Suburban Christian Conference win to improve to 17-5 and help recover from the tough Montini loss.
