Each pitcher allowed three hits and no earned runs, but No. 4-seeded New Trier and sophomore pitcher Kelsey Lee (20-6) edged No. 2 Maine West (26-8) and junior hurler Emily Ott (19-5) 2-0 to capture the IHSA Class 4A Glenbrook South Sectional crown on Saturday.

Shaneese Nelson literally gave it her best shot. Maine West's fast-improving junior threw the shot put a career-longest 37 feet, 6 inches Friday at the state meet in Bloomington to finish in 28th place. "She was very excited, very happy about it," said veteran Warriors head coach Joe LeCastro.
