Young senior Bryan Hall gave an oral commitment to Northern Illinois Thursday.

Hall, a 6-2 guard, is the second Public League player in the class of 2008 to commit to NIU, following Von Steuben guard Mike Dinnuno. Simeon junior Steve Walker also committed to the Husies over the summer.

Hall chose NIU over Eastern Illinois, IUPUI-Ft. Wayne and Drake. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about [NIU coach Ricardo Patton],” Hall said. “When I met him I got a good feeling about him and the whole program. It’s also a place that could give me a chance to play right away.”

Hall is the second Young senior to commit to a Division I school. Point guard AJ Rompza committed to Central Florida last week.

According to coach Tyrone Slaughter, Young will host a scrimmage by the University of Illinois basketball at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
