Only a junior, New Trier offensive lineman Mark Zielinski has no shortage of suitors pursuing his talents.
“Everybody is interested in him,” said New Trier coach Dan Mortier. “Every Big Ten school (has expressed interest). He is one of the biggest kids we have ever had.”
It is one thing to be blessed with physical attributes, but the Trevians’ two-way leader combines his natural gifts with uncommon agility, finesse and brute strength.
“He is extremely strong,” said Mortier. “He has great feet for his size. His upper body strength is excellent. He is just an outstanding athlete.”
Not only does Zielinski anchor the Trevians offensive line, but a lack of depth on the defensive side means the 306-pound junior will be asked to get down and dirty against opposing teams’ centers.
