Melissa Dixon of Johnsburg made a verbal commitment to Iowa after a weekend visit.

The 5-7 guard chose the Hawkeyes over DePaul, Marquette and Vanderbilt.

"As soon as I got there [Iowa City], I loved it," Dixon said. "Everything was right, the coaches, the players. I had a lot of fun. After I visited, I knew that it was where I wanted to go for the overall college experience."

Dixon averaged 19.4 points a game last season in leading the Skyhawks to a Class 3A supersectional, where her team lost to Oswego 51-48, despite her 25 points.

Dixon will join her club teammate Samantha Logic of Racine, Wisconsin in the Hawkeyes' Class of 2015.

"It will be great to get to play with Sam again," Dixon said. "I thought that it was definitely the right place for me. And I wanted to play in the Big Ten."

In three years, Dixon has 1,395 career points, and last year, she made 84 three-pointers.
