Behind senior star Joe Jeffers, New Trier's swimmers had a banner day at Saturday's Evanston Dectional.

The Trevians won four swimming events, captured all three relays and qualified 18 individuals for next week’s state meet at their home pool.

They also finished first and third in the diving event.

In all, the Trevians amassed 337 points to easily outdistance the host Wildkits (233) and Niles West (228).

“New Trier swam the way we expected,” Evanston coach Kevin Auger said. “To qualify two people in each [individual event] when you can only enter two is really an accomplishment.”

Jeffers won the 50-yard freestyle (21.34), anchored the 200 medley relay (1:36.99) and swam the opening legs of the 200 (1:27.28) and 400 (3:13.27) freestyle relays. Junior Kyle Grant won the 100 backstroke (53.85), finished third in the 100 and swam on the 200 freestyle relay.

Sophomore Konrad von Moltke captured the 100 breaststroke (59.50). Freshman Nick Killeen won the 500 freestyle (4:40.70). Senior Michael Ross won the diving competition with a score of 507.60. Freshman Jordan Sacks was third.

New Trier’s dominance overshadowed an impressive double by Niles West sophomore Scott Konner. He captured the 200 individual medley (1:57.75) and the 100 free (47.75). Senior A.J. Chen-Young also won the 100 butterfly (51.47) as the Wolves qualified five individuals and one relay.

Evanston qualified six individuals and one relay. The Wildkits' lone individual champion was Max Behles in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.34).
