A trio of sophomores helped Fenwick rally from a two-goal deficit to knock off St. Rita 4-3 in Catholic League action on Sunday at Southwest Ice Arena in Crestwood.

It was the second time this season the Friars have come from two goals down to beat St. Rita on its home ice.

Aidan Verbeke got the game-winner for Fenwick (26-15-3, 12-3-0-1) with 2:37 left in the third period. Fellow sophomore Matt Crook started the play when his shot hit the left post as time expired on a St. Rita power play. Grayson Feichtinger got the rebound and found Verbeke in front.

"All year the third period has been our best period," said Crook, whose first period goal opened the scoring. "We know we can play with anybody in the league. We had to hunker down and make sure that we didn't get chippy, play our game and not let them control what we do. It's a great feeling to be able to beat our rivals on their home rink."

The host Mustangs (37-6-1, 16-2) took a 3-1 lead on power-play goals by Alex Roman, Henry Capouch and Michael Ferguson in the second period.

After Verbeke scored with 1:33 left in that period, the Friars tied it with 11:00 remaining in the third when Feichtinger scored on a power play off assists from Max Bronner and Crook.

Jack McDonnell had three assists and Chris Cimoch two assists for St. Rita. Justin Corvino made 32 saves for Fenwick.
