Lincoln-Way Central freshman Lukas Verzbicas tied the course record by running a 14:36 to win the boys individual title Saturday at the Lyons Invitational.
The host Lions won the team title, beating runner-up Sandburg 31-78. Lincoln-Way Central (81) was third.
GIRLS TENNIS
Vernon Hills Invitational: Amrula Bhatt of Hoffman Estates beat Lakes' Jen Shea 6-4, 6-3 to win the No. 1 singles title at the Vernon Hill Invitational.
Lakes edged Palatine 21.5-21 to win the eight-team tourney.
