Crane football season is over

Updated: September 14, 2011 7:49PM

Crane has suspended its football program for the rest of the season, according to Public League director of sports administration Calvin Davis.

Davis said in an email that concern over low numbers and the players’ level of conditioning prompted the school’s administration to put the program on hold.

Crane lost its first two games this fall to Hirsch and Senn before forfeiting last week’s game against Marine because of equipment issues.

The Cougars were coming off consecutive 0-9 seasons. Their last win was 36-0 over Phillips in Week 6 of the 2008 season.

Crane plays in the Inter-City 4 section. Its remaining opponents – Muchin, Juarez, Urban Prep-West, Bulls Prep, Farragut and Lake View – will receive forfeits.
