After losing to Keith Country Day in a Class 1A supersectional last year, Immaculate Conception’s seniors had one goal in 2008.
“They wanted to get back to the supsersectional,” Immaculate Conception coach Jean Field said.
Mission accomplished.
Mary Kate Manion had 10 kills, Danielle Remy added six kills and two blocks and junior Abby West added five kills and 17 assists as Immaculate Conception (30-9) defeated Chicago Christian 21-25, 25-18, 25-17 Thursday to win the Class 2A Luther North Sectional title.
“We regrouped after losing Game 1 and had a real good Game 2,” Field said. “We made a few adjustments and served really well. We got our hands on a lot of balls and we passed well. Everything starts with passing.”
Catherine Guido had 15 digs for Immaculate Conception, which will face St. Edward in the Class 2A supersectional Saturday at Byron. St. Edward won two previous meetings with Immaculate Conception in Suburban Catholic Conference play.
