St. Ignatius cruised to its own Class AA regional title Friday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over Wells.
The Wolfpack (24-1-1), which is a heavy favorite to advance to the New Trier Supersectional next week, got three goals each from freshmen Megan York and Kelly Price.
“Playing in games like this (that are blowouts) really hurt us in the long run,” St. Ignatius coach Aaron Carpenter said. “The speed of play is different, and it’s tough to stay sharp. A team like New Trier is going to have three tough matches if it makes it to the supersectional.”
