It’s tough to lose a soccer game if you don’t give up a goal. Just ask St. Ignatius.

For the fifth time in six games this season, the host Wolfpack held their opponent scoreless on Friday afternoon, this time a 5-0 shutout of Young.

Megan York paced the attack with two goals and an assist, while Becca Sliwoski, Alex Yorke and Julie Govedarica also tallied for St. Ignatius (5-0-1).

“We trained about 15 hours this week, because we were on spring break,” St. Ignatius coach Aaron Carpenter said. “We’re playing well right now.”

Junior Ashlee Hunt posted her fifth shutout. She has allowed just one goal in six games.

Sweeper Claire Devitt and stopper Jayne Eslinger are two more reasons why the Wolfpack has been solid defensively.

“We’ve pressured the ball for 80 minutes each game, and we’re only allowing only a few shots on goal each game,” Carpenter said. “The kids are ready and looking forward to (next week’s) Pepsi Showdown, too. It should be a good a challenge to see where we stand.”
