After 22 years on the periphery of Elgin High athletics, Nick Bumbales is moving to the forefront after being named girls varsity basketball coach, replacing Angie Hudson.
Larkin High School announced several coaching hires Wednesday, including tabbing Alphonso Lott to lead the girls varsity basketball program.
Lott, who was the varsity girls hoops coach at North Chicago from 1995-98, is currently an assistant football coach at Larkin.
Amy Silverman has resigned after 14 seasons as Larkin's girls basketball coach. "I always ask the kids to give a hundred percent," she said. "And I felt I could no longer give 100 percent."
