Loyola's balanced scoring attack was too much for Evanston Tuesday, as the top-seeded Ramblers rolled past the Wildkits 57-34 in the semifinals of the Class 4A Maine South Sectional.
The Ramblers broke an early tie at 3 with a 16-2 tear to end the first quarter.
Loyola (25-6) had five players finish in double figures in scoring — sophomore guard Audrey Gaughan (12), junior Meghan Holy (11) and Ashley Thomas, junior Katie Wheeler and Lem Atanga McCormick (10 each) contributed offensively.
“We love balance,” Loyola coach Tanya Johnson said. “Evanston can be really scary. I credit the kids for executing the game plan in back-to-back games.
“This feels good compared to year ago [Loyola was 14-15]. Last year, I was watching.”
Kim Davis and Darcel Retreage each scored 10 for the Wildkits (21-8).
