Ashlee Anderson scored eight of her team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as No. 3 Young rallied past visiting No. 17 Trinity 60-55 in a nonconference clash Saturday afternoon.

Trinity (19-5) took a 50-45 lead on a free throw by junior guard Monica Albano (29 points) with 5:06 to play in the game.

Then Anderson, a junior guard who struggled from the free-throw line all day, hit two free throws to start a 9-0 run that gave the Dolphins (21-2) the lead for good.

‘‘It was surprising to me that I didn't make more (free throws),’’ said Anderson, who finished 7-of-19 from the line after missing her first six attempts. ‘‘But I made them and the team made them when it counted.’’

Young was 12-of-20 from the line overall and Anderson was 6-of-11 from the stripe in the fourth quarter.

Trinity cut the lead to 57-55 on a long three-pointer by Shakyia Vassar (nine points) with 22 seconds remaining.

But Chanise Jenkins (10 points) hit 3 of 4 free throws in the final 19.5 seconds to seal the win for the Dolphins.

Trinity attempted three free throws in the fourth quarter, including one in the final five minutes. But Anderson had two late steals as the Blazers committed six fourth quarter turnovers and had 17 in the game.

‘‘They kept getting all the calls and they made the free throws when it counted,’’ said Albano, who also had a career-high seven three-pointers. ‘‘It took me awhile to warm up, but then I had confidence with my shooting.’’

The Dolphins, who were playing without starting point guard D'Frantz Smart (throat and ear infection), scored the game’s first 10 points.

Trinity trailed 29-19 with 3:04 left in the second quarter when Albano hit a three-pointer to start an 8-0 run that helped draw the Blazers draw within 33-30 at halftime. Albano had 17 points at halftime.

Trailing 37-33 with just under six minutes left in the third quarter, Albano had five points in a 10-0 run that gave the Blazers their first lead of the game.

"We got down 10-0 and we knew we had to pick it up," Albano said. "We're better than that."

Amanda Macchione added 11 points and nine rebounds for Trinity. Kiara Conner, LaQuita Garner and Porsha Harris (12 rebounds) each scored eight points for the Dolphins.
