Loyola's Lem Atanga McCormick may want to fly jets one day. But the senior who is headed to the Air Force Academy is already flying high, scoring a career-high 22 points as the No. 13 Ramblers grounded No. 12 Trinity 51-38 Tuesday in River Forest.
"I got a lot of good looks from our guards," said McCormick, who hit her last seven shots from the low post and was 9-of-14 from the field.
"We knew we had to come out and take care of business because this was a conference game."
Loyola (10-4, 4-0 GCAC Red) led 21-20 at the half. The Ramblers went to the post to either McCormick or Ashley Thomas (eight points, 12 rebounds) to open a 40-29 advantage with six minutes to play.
“Lem has improved so much," Loyola coach Tanya Johnson said. "Teams just can't double-down on Ashley (Thomas) anymore."
Trinity (12-2, 3-1) was led by Monica Albano and Amanda Macchione with 10 points each.
