Tuesday's girls basketball roundup

Michala Johnson scored 22 points in her first game back since she suffered an ACL injury in the first game of the 2008-09 season to lead No. 4 Montini (1-0) past No. 23 Marist 59-51.

Johnson, a 6-3 UConn recruit, also had 11 rebounds and six blocks in 18 minutes of playing time.

‘‘We’re limiting her time as she builds up her endurance,’’ Montini coach Jason Nichols. ‘‘We don’t want to push her too soon, but we’re excited to have her back.’’

Argo 54, Chicago Academy 19: Shiauna Washington had 15 points and 25 rebounds to power Argo (1-0) over Chicago Academy. Jenelle McField contributed 14 points and eight steals for the tournament host Argonauts.

Cary-Grove 74, Woodstock North 44: Cary-Grove was led by Claire Jakubicek, who scored 18 points. Olivia Jakubicek (13 points) and Liz Barts (10 points) also starred in the win.

Conant 36, Addison Trail 32: Conant was led by Alyssa Rawleigh, who scored 14 points. Ashley Lindeman added 11 points in the win.

DeKalb 51, Harlem 26: DeKalb was paced by Taylor White, who scored 13 points. Kelli Gerace added 11 points while Kay Smith, Shelby Wood, Emily Bemis each added seven points.

Elmwood Park 37, IMSA 24: Elmwood Park (1-0) was paced by Michelle Tinajero, who finished with 13 points. Ashley DiCristafano added 10 points in the win.

Glenbrook South 50, St. Charles East 42: Kelly Minx scored 16 points for Glenbrook South at the Schaumburg tournament.

Hirsch 43, Bronzesville 24: Tatianna Means scored 20 to lead Hirsch (1-0).

Hoffman Estates 52, Lake Park 43: Jada Stott’s team-high 21 points paced Hoffman Estates to a victory over Lake Park at Fenton. Precious Ogunleye, the niece of Bears’ defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks (1-0).

Hyde Park 43, Fenger 35: Hyde Park was led by Sabrina Smith, who scored 12.

Joliet 47, East Aurora 39: Keairra Collins scored 19 points and added five rebounds to lead Joliet. Teammate Adjoa Matthews scored 10.

Joliet Catholic 57, Streator 36: Joliet Catholic was led by Lindsay Fonck, who scored 22 points at the Pontiac tournament.

Jones 55, Marine 34: Jeshon Berry (21 points) and Kristen Bianchi (11 points) powered Jones (1-0).

Kenwood 73, Lindblom 37: Kenwood (1-0) was led by Christina Smith, who scored 34 points. Kristina Williams (22 points) and Chloe Harvey (13 points) also starred in the win.

Lake Forest 73, Regina 42: Lake Forest's Mary Strieel finished with 21 points, nine steals, six rebounds. Claire DiMario added 17 points and six rebounds in the win.

Latin 62, Brooks 35: Latin (1-0) was led by Chantal Heckman, who finished with 21 points and five assists. Nikki Dizon added 16 points and six assists in the win.

Carmel 50, Rolling Meadows 38: Carmel was led by 17 points from Kristine Ruhl and eight points from Sarah McHugh at the Mundelein tournament.

Mother McAuley 47, Sandburg 35: Molly Stasaitis (12 points, six steals) and Bridge Balsam (10 points, seven rebounds) powered Mother McAuley.

Mt. Assisi 75, Maria 26: Mt. Assisi was paced by Amy Mlynarski (13 points) and Katie McGann (nine points).

Naperville Central 64, Providence 49: In a Sweet 16 matchup, Emma Ondik scored 22 points for Central.

Oak Lawn 46, Queen of Peace 44: Oak Lawn (1-0) was fueled by Kelly Foley, who finished with 14 points. Nicole Padlauski and Michelle Nudo each added 10 in the win.

Oswego East 45, Highland Park 40: At the Mundelein tournament, Jordan Jackson (21 points, 12 rebounds) and Jasmine Davis (10 points, five rebounds) paced Oswego East.

Raby 33, TEAM Englewood 27: Raby was led by Ashley Dorsey, who finished with 13 points and four assists. Teammate Zhane Alexander put together a solid all-around effort, adding eight points, four assists, and two steals.

Thornwood 41, Bremen 38: Thornwood powered past Bremen thanks to stellar performances from Briana Turner (12 points) and Celestra Warren (11 points).
