Michala Johnson scored 22 points in her first game back since she suffered an ACL injury in the first game of the 2008-09 season to lead No. 4 Montini (1-0) past No. 23 Marist 59-51.
Johnson, a 6-3 UConn recruit, also had 11 rebounds and six blocks in 18 minutes of playing time.
‘‘We’re limiting her time as she builds up her endurance,’’ Montini coach Jason Nichols. ‘‘We don’t want to push her too soon, but we’re excited to have her back.’’

Joliet Catholic 57, Streator 36: Joliet Catholic was led by Lindsay Fonck, who scored 22 points at the Pontiac tournament.
