A complete team effort is what Montini coach Jason Nichols was looking for as the No. 10 Broncos faced Wheaton Academy in the Class 3A Riverside-Brookfield Sectional championship Thursday night.
And that's exactly what Nichols got as four different Montini players reached double digits in a 55-38 win that gave the Broncos their fifth straight sectional title.
"If you have more weapons, you're harder to plan for," Nichols said. "We felt we could get a lot of different people involved tonight."
Montini (28-4) trailed 10-7 in the first quarter, but a 9-0 run gave it the lead for good.
The Broncos led 24-18 at halftime and dominated the third quarter to expand the advantage to 39-25.
Alison Seberger and Tianna Brown led Montini with 12 points apiece, while Whitney Holloway and Chrissy Fletcher had 10 each.
"We were just working as a team," said Brown, a 6-foot freshman. "Everyone was not depending on one person."
Wheaton Academy (28-2) was led by Jennifer Lee's 19 points.
