Gross out as coach of Red Devils?

Hinsdale Central girls basketball coach Steve Gross, who led the Red Devils to the 2002 Class AA state championship, has apparently resigned after a dispute with a school administrator.

The No. 10 Red Devils did not practice Wednesday and are scheduled to host Benet Thursday.

Hinsdale Central beat Marian Catholic 43-38 to win its first and only state title in 2002. The Red Devils finished 34-1 that season.

Gross guided the Red Devils to regional titles each of the past two seasons.
