Considering what it was up against, Geneva's defense -- in particular its front seven -- definitely held its own against East St. Louis in a 33-14 loss on Saturday in the Class 7A state championship game at Memorial Stadium.
Maine South grinds out a crown in 8A

Maine South got here in large part on the arm of quarterback Charlie Goro. But in the finale it was the legs of Goro, Matt Perez and Joey Orlando that were the difference.
