The 25-player 2009 Sun-Times All-Area football team features four players who will participate in the U.S. Army All-American game, a national record holder and multiple conference players of the year.
Sun-Times Player of the Year: Maine South’s dynamic 5-11, 205-pound running back/defensive end Matt Perez is the Sun-Times Player of the Year for 2009. Perez and the No. 1 Hawks host Loyola Saturday in the Class 8A semifinals.
