Top-ranked St. Rita's 35-0 victory Friday over Leo was short on style points.
The Mustangs (3-0) sputtered to a 7-0 halftime lead, scoring their only touchdown of the half on a five-yard run by DeMarcus Dullen (11 caries, 64 yards).
"We always want to improve each week, but I don't feel like we got a lot better tonight," St. Rita coach Todd Kuska said.
Dave Marciano provided the knockout punch for the Mustangs. The junior safety returned the opening second half kickoff 90 yards to put Rita up 14-0.
"We always expect a return every week," said Marciano. "The line did a great job blocking, opening things up."
Three plays later Marciano struck again when he intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards to give the Mustangs a 21-0 lead.
"I just read the play, and the defense blocked and everything came easy," Marciano said.
Leading tacklers for Rita were Ryan Demming (nine) and Ken Stoklosa (12).
Rita quarterback Jason Kafka rushed five times for 58 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown run.
