We’re eight weeks into the season and our record is now 7-0. Last Friday night, we played Glenbrook South at their place. It was an extremely tough game that we won in the last two minutes on an 84-yard drive.

The stadium was completely packed and our student section was awesome the entire game. They were louder than the GBS fans and it really helped us out on defense and during drives in the second half.

We played a very poor first half in nearly every aspect of the game. I made some poor decisions and it put our team in bad positions. As a result, we went into the half down 19-7. We all knew that we were making mental errors and we just had to limit those mistakes and we would be right back in the game.

In the second half, we started to play our game and execute on both sides of the ball. The defense came up with huge stops and forced a turnover. They constantly gave our offense good field position and we capitalized on nearly every possession in the second half.

On the final drive, we were backed up to our own 5-yard line with 17 yards to go for a first down. Joe Orlando came up with a huge play to keep the drive going. Sam Chwarznski then came up with a catch that got us another first down and Matt Perez had really big runs for us.

With 12 seconds left in the game, Joe hit a game-winning field goal to cap the drive and make the final score 30-27.

It was a total team effort and it took the full 48 minutes of the game to decide the outcome. GBS came out very hard and aggressive and deserves a lot of credit for what they did.

This Saturday, we play New Trier at our field. It’s going to decide the conference championship, so we’re all really excited to hit the field and play for our eighth straight Central Suburban League South title. It’s also the Game of the Week. So if you can’t make it to the game be sure to check us out on Comcast.
