Cortney Frison scored two touchdowns and threw for another as Highland Park rallied for a 35-21 victory over host Minooka in a nonconference matchup Saturday afternoon.
Led by Frison, who finished with 19 carries for 207 yards, Highland Park (1-1) scored the game's final three touchdowns and gained 205 of its 327 yards on the ground in the second half.
"We wore them down," Frison said. "We always talk about finishing the game and playing start to end. The line opened the holes today. I did the rest, but I certainly couldn't have done it without them."
The Giants' offensive line is made up of Alex Chilow, Nick DiVecchio, Rick Johnston, Owen Kugler and Ethan Waldman.
Down 21-14, Highland Park tied the game on a fourth-down, two-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Kopp (6-of-15, 78 yards) to Brian Wilneff with 5:26 left in the third quarter.
Following an interception by Bobby Lindquist, the Giants took the lead on a 37-yard touchdown burst by Nick Coletta -- who finished with nine carries for 113 yards.
Frison, who threw a 24-yard TD pass in the first quarter and hauled in a 42-yard TD pass to tie the game 14-14 with 15.3 seconds left in the first half, capped the scoring on an 11-yard run with 4:43 to play in the game.
Elliot Allen scored on a three-yard run and had 13 carries for 138 yards for Minooka (1-1).
Sophomore quarterback Mitchell Brozovich had touchdown passes of seven and three yards for the Indians. Brozovich, who finished 7-of-20 for 79 yards with two interceptions, was making his first start in place of Brian Martin, who broke his ankle in the season-opening win over Oak Lawn.
"Cortney Frison is certainly good and they're a talented football team," Minooka coach Bert Kooi said. "But I take the blame. I switched our defensive scheme to try to stop the passing game and we weren't able to take away their running game."
